BECON-TV ANNOUNCES A NEW TV SERIES FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
FORT LAUDERDALE—BECON-TV has begun airing a new television series
called Hall Pass, which is
designed to get middle and high school students ready for life. Each episode covers
an important topic of interest in a fun, upbeat, peer-to-peer way that’s
designed to inform, educate, and entertain young people ages 12-17. Topics include how to go on a job
interview, goal setting, health and fitness, avoiding peer pressure, and how to
build self-esteem, just to name a few.
“There is so much to
know today as teenagers move into adulthood. What better way to help them prepare than by giving them
useful information in a way that they can absorb and enjoy learning” Says Dr. Phyllis Schiffer-Simon, General Manager of BECON.
Shot reality TV style,
Hall Pass stars real middle and high school students, a dynamic host, and
youth-oriented experts. The fun
and learning begin by presenting each episode’s topics in an upbeat and
engaging way.
“Hall Pass taps the
talents of some of our community’s most influential youth and youth leaders,”
says Iris Kauffman, Coordinator of Program Development. “We are pleased to
offer this series as a way to get more young people thinking and learning about
their futures in new ways.”
Many of the episodes will feature teen volunteers who agree
to appear because there is something they would like to learn, or something
about themselves they would like to improve. “The
viewer and the teens appearing on the show are often times learning together.”
says series producer Debra Hall.
“It’s a rewarding experience for everyone.”
Casting for the Hall Pass
host was also a fun experience for many South Florida teenagers. The spot went to a Marjory Stoneman
Douglas Drama club student who is about to start her first year as a drama
major in college. “Working on Hall
Pass is so important to me because all kids sould know that it’s always okay to
do the right thing, and it’s never “uncool” to be yourself.”
